Company History
Although engineering and building planning began initially in 1992, LMI’s Cambridge facility was purchased by Lauren International in 1994. Joint venture agreements for LMI Custom Mixing between Lauren International and Meteor Gummiwerke were signed in 1997.
LMI Custom Mixing completed installation of a second mixing line in July 2007. The new mixer is the result of increased customer demand. With this installation, plant capacity will double from 17.5 to more than 35 million pounds of polymer compound per year.
The new state-of-the-art mixing system will help employees produce the finest rubber compounds possible for customer’s greater ability to produce extruded profiles with high-quality surface standards.
“LMI has been involved in many development efforts for new applications across Lauren International,” said Jim Nixon, general manager, LMI. “Ongoing work is focused on low density and high elongation sponge for Lauren Manufacturing, an organic liner for Lauren AgriSystems, and compound support for Edgetech’s startup operation in the U.K.”
To ensure our compounds meet the demands of its customers, LMI has added a complete technical lab with a small mixer, mill and extrusion line so we can respond quickly to needs for compound development and improvement-- It is all part of our employees' commitment to “looking toward the future.”
